Only 8% of applications made it to MassChallenge Boston... And WE ARE ONE OF THEM!
BOSTON, MAY 23, 2017 - We are SO honored and humbled to have been accepted to MassChallenge, the most startup-friendly accelerator on the planet! We're excited to join the other 127 other high-impact and high-potential startups (chosen from over 1500 who applied) for this fantastic, fiercely challenging, four-month ride!
As part of the MassChallenge’s Boston accelerator program, State of Place will receive access to their global network, world-class mentoring from industry experts, tailored programming, free co-working space, and unrivalled access to corporate partners. The accelerator culminates on November 2nd at the MassChallenge Boston Awards Ceremony, where selected startups will pitch for the opportunity to win a portion up to $200,000 in no-equity awards!! (We like no-equity awards - can add it to our NSF SBIR $150K one we got last year!)
State of Place (as many of you know) is a predictive analytics software that quantifies what people love about places and why it makes economic sense to make them better to help cities and developers quell naysayers, get approvals, and secure funding, faster and more affordably than hiring consultants. We're a women-led team of passionate city lovers and data geeks making the case for great places!
Throughout the four-month program, we'll capitalize on the momentum we've already built via our SBIR funding, the honor of being chosen as the top 21st company serving #localgov by ELGL and of our Founder being named as an Associate Fellow for Placemaking by the New Cities Foundation, and the excitement around our 6 giveaway cities looking to make a case for great places! We will leverage Mass Challenge's amazing program and network to continue to work toward becoming THE international walkability and quality of place benchmarking, decision-making, and communication tool for placemakers!
State of Place is moneyballing city-making: Play a real-life version of SimCity. Calculate the ROI of proposed #walkability and #placemaking projects. Create awesome places people love!
Why is MassChallenge the most startup-friendly accelerator? Unlike many accelerators or investment-backed programs, MassChallenge doesn't take equity from the founders, but still provides stipends, shares of more than $1.5 million, office space, mentorship, and, most importantly, access to the great network of investors, serial entrepreneurs, corporate executives!
