Research findings: The presence of green spaces positively impacts the walkability of a neighborhood in Taksim, Istanbul when compared to Tesvikiye, a neighbourhood without access to green spaces and more conducive to motorized traffic.

Results showed a higher STATE OF PLACE INDEX for the Gezi Park/ Taksim neighborhood. The study validated that green spaces have a positive impact on walkability, which ultimately improves a place’s quality and social, environmental, and economic sustainability.
